Sustainability

At CRIBA, we understand sustainability as a way of managing our business and our projects: an integrated approach that consistently incorporates economic, social and environmental impact into every decision and every project.

With more than 75 years of experience, we build with responsibility, transparency and a long-term vision, integrating criteria of efficient resource use, continuous process improvement and impact reduction during construction.

This way of managing takes shape in every project, consolidating a way of building that evolves together with the city and the needs of its surroundings, with a commitment to generating sustainable value over time.

New — GRI 2021

Our first Sustainability Report

We bring together in a single document our management of economic, social and environmental impact in Argentina and Uruguay for the 2024–2025 period.

It marks the starting point for organizing, systematizing and giving visibility to our sustainability approach, establishing a baseline and the commitments that guide the evolution of our management.

Strategy

Our sustainability strategy: three pillars

In 2024 we created our Sustainability area and defined a strategy that transversally integrates economic, environmental and social impacts. This approach is built around a sustainability matrix and a materiality assessment aligned with the GRI Standards (2021), which guides decision-making and the prioritization of actions.

Environmental

Impact management

Every project implements an Environmental Management Plan to organize, control and monitor the environmental aspects of construction, focusing on responsible waste management and the continuous improvement of on-site processes.

Social

Community relations

We foster responsible engagement with the communities where we operate through dialogue, collaboration and the opening of our sites, and we support social initiatives focused on education, culture and institutional strengthening.

Economic

Business sustainability

We sustain our activity over time by integrating efficiency, responsible use of resources and impact analysis into every decision, balancing investment, risk and performance to generate long-term value.

People

Occupational health and safety on site

The sustainability of our business is built on the talent and commitment of our people. Every project has a Health, Safety and Environment coordinator, and we work under a "Zero Accidents" goal.

During the period we halved the accident incidence rate and recorded no fatal accidents in either country.

Certifications

LEED and EDGE certifications in sustainable construction

We combine construction quality with the tangible benefits of environmental certifications: lower impact, efficient use of resources and more affordable maintenance costs.

Certification
LEED

87,900 m² built and certified in the Platinum and Gold categories — approximately 6% of everything we build. 2017 Buildgreen Award for the largest area of LEED-certified buildings. In progress: Cipriani Ocean Resort (Uruguay) and the UTDT campus.

Certification
EDGE

Certification processes underway at Torre Huergo (Argentina) and at El Muelle 1 and Quartier within the +Colonia development (Uruguay), focusing on energy, water and materials efficiency.

Seal
Green seals

In the process of joining the Green Seal program of the City of Buenos Aires (GCBA) for our offices. The homes we built in the Rodrigo Bueno neighborhood earned the Sustainable Housing Seal from Argentina's National Secretariat of Energy.

Looking ahead

Our commitments

This report is a starting point for consolidating our sustainability strategy. Building on it, we have defined commitments that guide the evolution of our management in the coming periods.

  • Further improve information and monitoring systems for environmental impacts on site.
  • Strengthen environmental management plans and progressively incorporate circular economy practices.
  • Continue raising occupational health and safety standards across all projects.
  • Integrate ethics, integrity and compliance criteria into our relationships with suppliers and contractors.
  • Consolidate the Sustainability Policy as an operational management framework.
  • Systematize and organize community-engagement actions around our projects.
