Description
Buenos Aires public housing project # 2 occupies block B of this inner city neighborhood and involves the construction of 153 low income housing units, 15 retail stores and landscaping work on the surrounding green spaces. Retail stores on the ground level are meant to be occupied by family businesses or local startups. Each building features handicapped accessible housing for the disabled, internal spaces with recreational areas, educational spaces for courses and workshops, a parking lot and other installations to be determined by each individual condominium. Traditional construction techniques were used which include an independent reinforced concrete structure and brick wall enclosures. The façades feature double walls and exposed brick exteriors which require little maintainance and allow for adequate thermal and acoustic insulation. All roofs have solar panels to heat water and reduce energy consumption.
